Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are diseases that are spread by having sexual contact with someone who has an STD. The Center for Disease control, reported that 1 out of 4 teens are infected with an STD each year. Causing over half of them to been of had an STD by the age of 25. Which then leads to over half of young adults being infected with an STD by the age 30. These numbers are related to the fact that so many teens and young adults are very sexually active and take more risks. Although, anyone that has sex can get an STD.
HOW DO YOU GET AN STD?
STDs are transmitted through blood, vaginal fluids, semen, and the mucous membranes (Any opening of your body that has moist skin. Like your mouth, vagina, anus, etc.) Sharing of needles during drug use with anyone that is already infected with an STD puts you at even a greater risk. Most teens and young adults feel that oral sex is a safer form of sex. But, in reality, oral sex is becoming one of the main transmissions of an STD today.

Waiting until your married to have sex is the first step you could take to keep from getting an STD. There is nothing wrong with "waiting". I understand that may not be realistic to many of you. Now, to those of you that feel that you can not stop having sex. The best advice I can give you is to be safe. Being safe while having sex means that you DEMAND that your male partner wears a condom. It's not an option. And women, there is a such thing of a female condom if you weren't aware of it. Protect yourself at all cost.
Also, dont have sex with mulitple partners. People between the ages of 15 to 25 are putting themselves at risk everyday by having mulitple partners. I understand that realtionships end frequently at that age. But, have some standards for yourself. Because nothing is more important than your health.
